    Client Representation can take the form of an initial engagement by a free consultation with a client, understanding their circumstances, and advising them on the legal issues/implications we determine need to be addressed and monitored. Client Representation can also be given as a response to a specific legal question or circumstance posed by an existing client. It may also be given in response to a particular engagement or dispute involving a client. Lastly, it may be “on-call” or “retained” for long-term relationships, via a subscription.

    Questions About Client Representation

    Is a client’s representation by Magis limited to the attorney the client first makes contact with?
    No. When you engage Magis for legal services, you engage Matt as the principal attorney but the firm as a whole, regardless of which attorney you first make contact with. Your representation by our firm will be handled/conducted by the attorney(s) we deem appropriate based on your particular needs.
    What types of legal matters can Magis represent clients in?
    Magis is happy to represent/counsel clients in transactional legal matters (meaning no litigation – we don’t go to court). We focus primarily on the biotech, health care, and technology legal fields, but we are happy to consider any legal questions posed by our clients and either provide guidance, as we are able.
    What is proactive law?
    Proactive law means (1) taking steps to protect a client’s interests now in order to avoid greater expense down the road, and (2) ensuring that legal documents include all necessary terms and conditions, such as dispute resolution clauses, to avoid ambiguities in the document thereby reducing the likelihood of disputes (i.e., the goal is for the document itself to have the answer to any questions that may arise with regard to the terms of the document).
    What if I have to go to court?
    The goal is always to avoid conflicts, and resulting litigation, by being proactive with our approach to clients’ legal needs. In the event that a client must go to court, Magis does not engage in litigation, but will be happy to utilize its network to put clients in touch with an attorney or practice that is equipped to handle their particular dispute.

    Our founder, Matt DeNoncour, was born and raised around the healthcare industry, since his mother and father were both involved in healthcare in different capacities. And since he graduated with his law degree and MBA from Creighton University, he’s spent nearly a decade focused on the unique needs of healthcare companies. 

    After graduation, Matt worked for one of the largest cancer care providers in the world to resolve legal and business matters with the help of a team of specialized attorneys and associates – ranging from simple matters like drafting agreements to handing government inquiries and working with C-suite executives to iron out the details of multi-million dollar transactions.  

    This experience taught Matt the value of expert legal representation, but he recognized that not every company can afford a whole department of lawyers, paralegals, and legal assistants to handle legal complexities that are routine in the world of healthcare and biotech.  

    That’s why he founded Magis Law Firm in order to help healthcare, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and technology companies get the representation they need while developing, manufacturing, and selling their products.
